Congratulations to all our Seminary graduates! We are so proud of you!


May 29 An Open House to celebrate the High School Graduation of Lisa Norton, Mehreen Siddiqui and Chris Keenan will be held at the Keenan's home (10 S. 375 Curtis Lane) Sunday, May 29 from 6-8 pm.


June 2 RS Temple Trip. Meet at the church at 8:45 a.m. Please RSVP to Lienna Pan


June 5 There will be a special stake conference at 9 a.m. at the Joliet stake center. We will have the opportunity to hear from visiting church authorities. Fast Sunday will be held on June 12.


June 8 Ward temple night at 7 p.m.


June 18
72 Hour Kit Fair from 9-11 a.m. Orders need to be turned in by June 12!! This is a great way to get those kits done! (and a great info to share with neighbors and friends.) See attached order forms and information.


BERRY ORDERS
Information and order forms have been emailed out for the annual Bithell Farms berry orders which are being coordinated by Penni Bodily from the Naperville 2nd Ward. Since this will be a bulk order, the price is discounted slightly from what is listed. They are $3.00 off on cases of fruits and jams, and $3.00 off on buckets of berry purees, and $2.00 off jam gift packs. (Questions, please contact Penni Bodily @pennibodily@gmail.com.) ALL 3RD WARD ORDERS AND MONEY NEED TO BE GIVEN TO TAMI REID NO LATER THAN JUNE 19TH. Berries will be delivered in early September.




Sunday's Lesson: Elder Nelson, Be Thou an Example of the Believers
Taught by Sister Nicole Rowe


Sister Rowe broke things down in to 3 questions:
1. Why do we have missionaries?
-it is a commandment
-to baptize
-to help young men learn principles
-teach the blessings of eternal life
-the process of preparing for a mission helps people change
-to bring to pass the work and glory of God
-to help others receive the Holy Ghost and temple ordinances
-to be the Lord's mouthpiece
2. What can we do as parents to prepare our children to be missionaries?
-invite full time missionaries in to our home
-teach mission rules
-help our children save money in a mission fund
-encourage participation in youth baptism trips
-limit electronic media and educate them about its proper uses
-invite them to talk to friends about the gospel
-teach them to recognize the Spirit
-teach the importance of sacrifice
-encourage our own parents to think of serving a full time mission
-be realistic with them about how challenging a mission is
-invite the Spirit in to your home with FHE, scriptures, family prayer, etc.
-encourage them to gain their own testimony
-encourage them to read the Book of Mormon
-teach them responsibilities/life skills (such as doing laundry, how to cook, budgeting, etc)
-encourage Seminary attendance
-encourage participation in inspired programs of the Church
-teach Service
3. What is Elder Nelson's template of how to be a member missionary?
-Surprising how easy it is to be a missionary
-there wasn't time to cover this part in class so be sure to read the article!
